This entire thread was essentially one big TL;DR for me, so excuse my ignorance on the matter
Basically what I'd like to know is with the SOV changes planned (or already underway, hell if I know anymore lol) is there going to be a change in the way huge fleet battles in Null are going to be undertaken?
I ask because before I decided to break off and become a one-man industry/manufacturing tycoon, I used to be one of those "F1 Monkeys" mentioned in an earlier post. A number in a massive fleet in a massive alliance doing battle against another massive fleet belonging to an equally massive alliance. And tbh, I loved it. Being in massive space battles watching fleets of 100s of ships duke it out is what attracted me to the game in the first place.
If the days of massive space battles are numbered for EVE, then I will be a sad panda
Again sorry if seems like I've been living under a rock for the past year. Massive changes in gameplay for me have kind of left me out of the loop when it comes to Null mechanics. |

Someone could put the "evidence" you are spouting off about on a sign, and beat you over the head with it, and when you woke up you'd be demanding to see the evidence that you claim hasn't been provided yet.
If that's your observation of my post history, then either your bias is showing, or you make poor observations. Evidence is only as good as the scrutiny that it is able to withstand. Evidence must not be very good if it cannot withstand much scrutiny.
Can someone let these two settle their dispute and get them some boxing gloves and mouthguards already?

In regards to the age-long Buff HS vs Nerf HS arguement, anyone here ever notice that the majority of the people whining to CCP to buff HS are the ones who (un)surprisingly play recklessly and don't take the proper precautions prior to flying around in space? HS can be just as dangerous as low or null, and if you use a fail fit for a shiny ship, your just inviting the gankers with open arms.
What I mean is people who fit hulks with nothing but mining boost mods and no tank, orcas with nothing but cargo enhancers and no tank, carrying ridiculously expensive and/or shiny cargo in something entirely not suited for it like a shuttle, T1 frigate or a destroyer with no cloak, and other numerous examples.
I mean seriously, it doesn't take someone with a degree in rocket science to do some simple risk vs reward calculations and see that mining in a skiff with a decently fitted tank is a lot more cost-efficient in a suicide-gank prone area due to less risk of getting it blown up, even if the yield it mines is less. Then when they do get their nothing-but-mining-upgrades-and-cargo-expander-Hulk blown up they whine "Oh CCP, I got ganked, please buff HS oh pretty please!!"
I live primarily in HS, and I've encountered suicide gankers, and I never had much of a problem. Using skiffs with ridiculous tanks that rival some battleships and an Orca with an ungodly tank usually tends to dissuade a lot of gankers and increase survivability when **** hits the fan. |

Haven't tried probe scanning with the beta one. They fixed some bugs with probing on the new map, but honestly separate solar system and galaxy maps was better in terms of practicality. The new map is very much a case of form over function, the old map is superior in every way except of aesthetics. Making things pretty is great, but doing so at the expense of functionality is a horrible idea. Unlike some things I am reasonably confident that CCP will actually improve the new map over time though.
They'll make it so that the new map functions just as well as the old one did, except to use it you must be undocked, floating in space with no mods turned on
Joking! Please don't hurt me CCP |

Malcanis wrote:Are people still unironically claiming that " no one uses capitals"? They are using them differently and they dont get to grief small groups on the other side of the map with them and be home again i 30 minutes any more, but they sure are still using them.
^This, not to mention that not using capitals in a fleet that is capable of fielding them is the equivalent of a tank crew not bothering to use the main gun |
